چکیده

We discuss in this paper the problem of simultaneous tracking, which exploits the synergy between location and movement to provide the information necessary for intelligent home appliance control. Our goal is to carry out accurate movement estimation for multiple people in a home environment. We propose an approach that uses information gathered using only passive infrared sensors commonly found in lighting control systems. No special devices or video cameras are needed. Moreover, it is not necessary to carry out data collection for training. We evaluated our approach by conducting experiments in a real home fitted with sensors and we confirmed that room-to-room movement was detected with an accuracy of 0.82 for two inhabitants who moved freely through the house.

Towards Proactive Health Monitoring: Location-based Statistical Behavior Modeling

As the elderly population increases, more elderly persons are living alone. The well-being of the elderly population is becoming an important social issue. It is envisioned that the sensor network technology can provide necessary assistance to elderly persons living alone. Sensor networks can be used to collect useful behavioral and biological information to monitor the wellness of an elderly p...

Multiple Human Tracking Using Binary Infrared Sensors

To create a context-aware environment, human locations and movement paths must be considered. In this paper, we propose an algorithm that tracks human movement paths using only binary sensed data obtained by infrared (IR) sensors attached to the ceiling of a room. Our algorithm can estimate multiple human movement paths without a priori knowledge of the number of humans in the room. By repeatin...

Pattern Activities Identification in the Framework of Medical Nursing Home Using Infrared Sensors

This work propose a remote healthcare monitoring system designed to derive elderly’s activities of daily living and distress situation in Nursing Home environments through a set of pyroelectric infrared sensor placed in the rooms. We aim to infer from the nursing home environment information as the exits and entries in the room, presence of caregivers and activities as night rounds, sleeping, e...

Detecting Human Movement by Differential Air Pressure Sensing in HVAC System Ductwork: An Exploration in Infrastructure Mediated Sensing

We have developed an approach for whole-house gross movement and room transition detection through sensing at only one point in the home. We consider this system to be one member of an important new class of human activity monitoring approaches based on what we call infrastructure mediated sensing, or "home bus snooping." Our solution leverages the existing ductwork infrastructure of central he...

Preparation and Characterization of Multiwalled Carbon Nanotubes-Polythiophene Nanocomposites and its Gas Sensitivity Study at Room Temperature

The nanocomposites of polythiophene and carboxylated multiwalled carbon nanotubes (MWCNTs) were synthesized by in-situ chemical oxidative polymerization method using anhydrous ferric chloride (FeCl3) as an oxidant. The MWCNTs functionalized and ultrasonicated to obtain uniform dispersion within the polythiophene matrix. Field emission scanning electron microscopy was used to characterize the mo...
